Peter J. Kelly, 45, of 25 Chapel St., Apt. A, Newport, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) just after midnight. His car was stopped in front of Domina’s Agway on East Main Road because it had left the lane of travel, police said.

Police investigated a complaint that a driver on Sandy Point Avenue failed to stop for a school bus that had its lights activated shortly before 7:30 a.m. Police later cited a 20-year-old male who lived nearby.

Wilberto M. Suarez, 24, of 69 Nelson St., Apt. 3E, Fall River, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony, after the car in which he was a passenger car was stopped for speeding on West Main Road near Union Street at about 5:30 p.m. Police found four Xanax pills in the car during a search. Mr. Suarez said he had purchased the pills earlier that day, but he could not produce a prescription, according to police.

Thursday, Jan. 15

Kristin L. Walker, 33, of 196 Riverside St., was charged with fraudulent use of credit cards, a felony, shortly before 7 a.m. The charge stems from a complaint police received Dec. 23 from Moriarty’s Liquor Locker. The manager there said he was notified by American Express of a fraudulent credit card charge at his store, and police later learned that the same thing had taken place at North End Pizzeria, Cumberland Farms and Patriot Petroleum.
