PORTSMOUTH — Two Barrington girls were hospitalized and a Portsmouth High School student arrested following a large and noisy party at a King Charles Drive home to which police responded at about 11 p.m. Friday.
Police said people in the yard scattered inside the home and ran away from the property when they pulled up to the scene, and that there were cans and bottles of alcoholic beverages scattered outside.

About a dozen party-goers all said they were from Barrington and had no idea who the homeowner was; according to police, they had learned about the gathering via Facebook.
A 19-year-old man was chased through two backyards before agreeing to stop, police said. He said his uncle was a police officer, his grandfather was the former head of the Rhode Island State Police and that police “had no right to detain him,” according to police.
The inside of the home was in disarray, with cans of alcohol strewn throughout and some pieces of furniture knocked over, police said.
Upstairs, police found a large amount of vomit on the stairs and two females passed out on the floor of a bathroom. Both were taken to Newport Hospital for treatment.
Police said the homeowners were vacationing in Maine at the time and that their 16-year-old son, who was charged with underage possession of alcohol, was supposed to have been staying at a friend’s house.
Police contacted the mother of one of the Barrington girls attending the party and asked that she come to Portsmouth to pick up her daughter.
“She stated that she would send a friend, because it was a hassle for her,” according to the police report.
After complaining about police policy, the woman finally agreed to drive to Portsmouth, police said.
